The Perfect Book

Terms of service

Effective [effective date]

Draft for lawyer review. Not in effect yet. Highlighted items still need details or a decision.

Who we are

The Perfect Book is run by [company legal name]. These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or opening a gallery, you agree to them.

Accounts

  • Photographers create their own accounts. Clients join from an invite their photographer sends.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be an adult to create a photographer account. For review: Confirm the minimum age.

Your photos stay yours

Photographers own the photos and videos they upload. You give us permission to store them, make previews and watermarked copies, and show them to the clients you share them with, only to run The Perfect Book for you. That permission ends when you delete the files or your account.

We don't sell your photos or use them to advertise. For review: Corey to confirm this promise, and whether to add "or to train AI".

What you can't upload

  • Anything you don't have the rights to share.
  • Any sexual content involving a minor. We remove it, disable the account, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as the law requires.
  • Photos of people taken or shared in a way that breaks privacy law.
  • Anything illegal, threatening, or harassing, or files meant to harm devices.

Clients

  • Your photographer decides what you can see and whether you can download it.
  • Don't try to get around watermarks, the viewer protections, or download limits.

What protection can and can't do

Screenshot deterrence on the web. Screenshot blocking in our app. Watermarks, client marks, and blur make copies less useful and traceable, but no website can fully stop someone from photographing or recording their screen.

Plans and storage

  • Each plan includes a set amount of storage for the files you upload. At your limit, new uploads stop. Clients can still view.
  • Paid plans renew until you cancel. If a payment fails and can't be collected, your galleries go offline. You can still sign in, pay, and download your originals. Files are deleted 30 days after galleries go offline. For review: Paid plans aren't live yet. Add refunds, cancellation timing, and taxes when billing launches.

Reports and takedowns

We review reports and copyright notices, and we can remove content or disable accounts that break these terms. See copyright and takedowns for how that works and how to respond.

Ending your account

You can stop using The Perfect Book at any time. To delete your account and files, email [contact email]. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

The legal fine print

The Perfect Book is provided as is. Keep your own backup of every original. For review: Warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms for the lawyer to write.

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing state].

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email photographers before the change takes effect.
